This quite literally happened to my husband at the beach in NC. A big gust came and out flew an umbrella. We were sun bathing on the beach. When I say it landed spike first into the sand less than 5 inches from his head... I screamed bloody murder and literally our whole half of the beach let out a collective sigh of relief when they realized he was okay.
