These shots are quite tricky to plan for and capture at this level of detail, so even though I have been doing it for years I still fail more often than succeed. I had two opportunities the past two weeks, I failed 2/3, but the success was the solar image on the bottom. The failures are painful, as these require driving for hours and setting up equipment in unpleasant places/conditions while waiting for the shot. Thankfully, the payoff is worth it.
If the one on the bottom looks familiar, I posted it here in a slightly more zoomed out version last week. I shot that image as a closeup and as a full disc shot, so you can se how large the ISS appears compared to the whole sun. See both versions of the photo on my website here
