I'm middle-aged and yes, people were just so naive about this war. Misplaced anger and bloodthirstiness from 9/11 totally drove this war and the tipping point was the NY Times' article by Judy Miller basically saying there were WMDs. (There were not.)
Meanwhile, if you even questioned the war, people told you you were unpatriotic and we're still besties with Saudi Arabia, which funded 9/11.
