My great grandmother was born in the year of federation. When she turned 100 she received a lovely note from the Queen and John Howard. She also received a special sort of medallion for being the same age as Australia. She was moderately chuffed.
You can also get one for 60th wedding anniversary. My grandparents were ecstatic. You do have to request these letters though, it doesn’t come automatically.
