Pakistan violates ceasefire for 5th straight day in Jammu and Kashmir, firing reported in Kupwara, Akhnoor The Indian Army retaliated to unprovoked firing from Pakistani side in Kupwara Akhnoor and Baramulla sectors.
In the latest ceasefire violation along the International Border, the Pakistan Army opened unprovoked small arms fire across several locations along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday night. According to officials, the Indian Army responded in a measured and effective manner.
The firings took place in Kupwara and Baramulla districts, as well as the Akhnoor sector, marking the fifth consecutive day of ceasefire breaches by Pakistan amid heightened tensions following the Pahalgam terror attacks, where Pakistan-based terrorists killed 26 people.
"During the night of 28-29 April 2025, the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked small arms firing across the Line of Control in areas opposite Kupwara and Baramulla districts, as well as the Akhnoor sector. The Indian Army responded in a measured and effective manner to the provocation," the Indian Army said in a statement.
Tensions along the LoC remain high as security forces have stepped up anti-terror operations in the Kashmir Valley following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed 26 lives.
On the night of April 26–27, the Indian Army effectively responded to firing by the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control (LoC), targeting areas opposite the Tutmari Gali and Rampur sectors. On Monday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to brief him on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the military’s preparedness in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack.
Their 40-minute meeting came just hours after the Pakistan Army fired on several Indian posts along the LoC. In response to the Pahalgam attack, India has taken a series of firm measures, including the suspension of the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty and the immediate closure of the Integrated Check Post at Attari.

I think it is fascinating as Pakistan is also claiming that India is going to invade them within the next 36 hours. Both countries are trying paint the other as the aggressor as part of their chest thumping.

Subah statement: Pakistan has violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir for the fifth consecutive day, with fresh firing incidents reported in Kupwara and Akhnoor sectors, escalating border tensions.
These ceasefire violations follow a deadly terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, where 26 Hindus were identified and killed. India attributed the attack to Pakistan-based militants, leading to a significant diplomatic fallout. In response, India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and downgraded diplomatic ties, while Pakistan closed its airspace to Indian flights and suspended the Simla Agreement.
