I once saw a person who had a condition like this at a baseball game when I was young. Literally every inch of skin not covered in clothes looked exactly like this. We forget how lucky we are to have our health. So awful.

I can't even imagine how important that moment of acceptance was for him. To be seen as a person.

I'm personally not a fan of the catholic church for many reasons. However, I absolutely can appreciate the fact that Pope Francis was the real deal. The guy was the embodiment of practice what you preach. While we need hundreds of leaders like him, not only in religion, but in elected office, I fear he is a dying breed of human. I truly hope people take this time to reflect on his lessons of compassion and love for their fellow humans, through his example, we should all strive to be this compassionate and loving toward one another.
