Democrats in the House of Representatives slammed Republicans on social media Thursday for supporting President Donald Trump's reciprocal tariffs that sent the stock market into a nosedive.

On the heels of the Trump administration announcing its reciprocal tariffs, meant to "Make America Wealthy Again," the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), which works to elect Democrats into the House of Representatives, slammed their Republican counterparts for blindly supporting Trump's taxes on goods.

The new tariffs could end up costing Americans $5,200 a year, according to report by the Center for American Progress, without creating jobs, protecting American workers or strengthening the U.S.' global standing international economic position as outlined in Trump's executive order signed Wednesday.

"Republicans would rather plunge the United States into a recession than stand up to Trump," the DCCC's X post read. "Nothing but a bunch of complicit cowards."

The DCCC previously tore into the Trump administration for crashing the stock market weeks into the current term. When Biden left the White House, he left behind one of the strongest stock markets in history.

The one thing that gets through to most people is losing money... hopefully, these cowards are all voted out.

This is FINALLY the kind of language and rhetoric needed.

"Complicit Cowards" undercuts their "brave warrior ethos" that the right likes to sell themselves as.

This is a message that resonates and they would do well to stick with it.
