This area is interesting because the county went for Trump but elected a centrist Dem (Mcdonald Rivet) to the House and IIRC was blue for the senate seat too. Rust belt town abandoned by most industry but gets a little tourism due to being on the Bay. Bay City proper is very blue, with a previously lame duck city commission that voted to privatize two bridges in town rather than figure out how to fund repairs by working with the (pretty Red) county - resulting in the bridge company scamming county drivers by removing their unlimited crossings plan this year. Privatization is gonna get pretty unpopular pretty quick among reactionaries there so this is maybe the last chance Vance will have to go before it starts getting REALLY toxic, look at what all his supporters at the plant said, it's all economic populism but they think the only ones screwing them over are foreign companies. Gonna turn real quick when tariffs don't fix shit
