Pennsylvania U.S. Sen. John Fetterman has missed the most Senate votes so far this year, according to a recent report.
Citing the nonpartisan GovTrack.us, the left-leaning Zeteo reported that Fetterman, a Democrat, missed 18 of the Senate’s 98 roll-call votes in January and February, eight more than any Senate colleague.
According to GovTrack data, Fetterman has missed 18.4% of the Senate’s votes in 2025. Zeteo reported that 11 of the 18 missed votes occurred on Thursdays.
When asked by a Zeteo reporter about the missed votes, Fetterman responded, “I’m devastated by your inquiries,” without an explanation.
A Fetterman spokesperson did not respond to PennLive’s questions about the missed votes.
GovTrack’s data showed that Pennsylvania’s new GOP Sen. Dave McCormick has not missed any of this year’s 98 votes.
Zeteo jabbed Fetterman by noting that he made time to visit then-President-elect Donald Trump in Florida in January and meet with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit to Washington, D.C., in February.
Fetterman has angered many on the left with his strong support for Israel and his votes for several of Trump’s controversial cabinet nominees.
Zeteo also snarkily compared Fetterman’s 230-mile “commute” between Washington, D.C., and his home in Braddock, near Pittsburgh, to the 2,826 distance that Hawaii’s Democratic senators Mazie Hirono, who has not missed any votes, and Brian Schatz, who has missed one, must travel.
During the previous 118th Congress, Fetterman was fourth in voting absences, missing 21.2% over the session, according to GovTrack.
Fetterman suffered a stroke in May 2022 before going on to win the Senate seat that November and he was hospitalized for several weeks in 2023 while being treated for depression.

If we can get laid off, or fired for performance reasons, so should the people we elect to represent us. As it stands now, we need someone to run against him and spend the next few years campaigning against him and tell people. Run as an independent party.

We should be able to recall federal politicians. This guy is not doing his job, and when he does show up he’s not governing on what he campaigned on.
