This looks like Iowa, so here's the context: Our Republican legislature is trying to pass a bill that would remove civil rights protections for trans individuals. We would be the first state to do so. There were protests yesterday as well.
Bonus context: remember all the dumb shit Kansas and Indiana did? Apparently Iowa looked at that and thought it would be cool to do that instead of ACTUALLY SOLVING PROBLEMS.
EDIT: The statehouse appears to have passed it, so it goes to the Governor's desk. She'll probably add some plaitutdes about "protecting women" or Orange Man my hero, or some other BS to her signing comments. Well done, Iowa. From gay marriage to stripping rights.
