SALT LAKE CITY (Gray News) - A Utah man has reportedly been arrested for shooting and killing his friend.

ABC4 reports that 23-year-old Ashton Mann is facing charges that include felony manslaughter after he was arrested over the weekend.

The Unified Police Department reported it responded to a home in the Kearns area after receiving a call about a man who was shot in the chest.

First responders found the man unresponsive on the floor and took him to a local hospital, but he did not survive.

Detectives said Mann told them that he and his friend had smoked marijuana around 8 p.m. that evening and began talking about guns in the kitchen.

Mann and his friend then went into the garage to continue their conversation where the two reportedly were handling handguns when the friend said he could dodge a bullet.

The 23-year-old told police that they unloaded the guns they were using but one of the guns ended up firing and struck the friend in the chest while he was trying to “jump out of the way.”

Authorities said they found the two handguns in question at the home along with ammunition and drug paraphernalia.

Officials did not immediately identify the man who was killed.
