Donald Trump has suggested that Britain could escape a trade war with America because he and Sir Keir Starmer are “getting along very well”.
Trump has already imposed tariffs on some allies and threatened the EU, but the UK has been spared thus far. The president said tariffs on Britain “might happen” but indicated that things could be “worked out”.
“The UK is way out of line, and we’ll see,” Trump said of tariffs from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. “But [the] European Union is really out of line. The UK is out of line but I’m sure that one, I think that one can be worked out. But the European Union, it’s an atrocity what they’ve done.”
