The popular digital card game Marvel Snap has hit a major bump in the road. Players faced a temporary disruption in service recently, and it’s clear the game’s future is caught in some serious turbulence. While service is now back online, the issue has left many wondering what’s next for the game.
The developer behind the game, Second Dinner, is now in the tricky position of finding a new publisher. Nuverse, the company previously managing the publishing side, is no longer involved. The sudden need for a new partner has left questions hanging about how the game will continue to grow or change.
For now, Second Dinner has reassured everyone that Marvel Snap remains playable. They’ve emphasized their commitment to keeping the game running and supporting its community. However, without a publisher to back future updates and marketing, it’s unclear how much longer this support can be sustained.
It’s worth mentioning that Marvel Snap has built a strong following since its release. Players love its fast-paced gameplay and the chance to build decks with their favorite Marvel characters. The game also received awards and recognition, showing its appeal goes beyond just casual players. But even with this success, losing a publisher is no small problem.
WHEW. MARVEL SNAP is back online in the U.S. But to make sure this NEVER happens again, we’re working to bring more services in-house and partner with a new publisher. This is the start of a new era for MARVEL SNAP. — Ben Brode (@benbrode.bsky.social) 2025-01-21T02:53:28.181Z
What makes the situation even trickier is that Second Dinner hasn’t shared many details about the search for a new publisher. There’s no word yet on whether they’re close to sealing a deal or if they’re struggling to find the right partner. For players, it’s a waiting game, and the lack of updates is only adding to the tension.
It’s not all doom and gloom, though. The Marvel Snap team has shown in the past that they can adapt to challenges. Whether it’s through creative updates or finding ways to connect with their community, Second Dinner knows how to stay in the game. But will that be enough to navigate this storm? That’s the big question on everyone’s mind.
For now, we’ll keep playing and hoping for the best.

Oh good, was worried they wouldn't be able to keep that game with great gameplay and increasingly awful monetization practices running.

At least they have Marvel support, would be a lot harder otherwise.
