Edit: Apparently /u/stevebiro/ has a reddit account. Over here he mentions that the eagle was close enough that he could feel the breeze from it's wings.

It's a good thing it is a symmetrical bald eagle. Those poor asymmetrical ones just end up flying around in circles constantly, it's also great that there's a reflection underneath it.
