James Wan‘s Atomic Monster production company has acquired the rights to develop Game Award-nominated indie title “Pacific Drive” into a TV series.

Created by Cassandra Dracott from Ironwood Studios, “Pacific Drive” is a retropunk-style driving and survival game set to an experimental electronic music soundtrack that challenges players to escape a surreal and abandoned exclusion zone with their car as their only companion in the dark and chilling world.

Debuting back in February, “Pacific Drive” was nominated for Best Debut Indie Game at the 2024 Game Awards Dec. 12 and won Best Gameplay at the 2024 BIG Festival, where it was also nominated for Best Game. In June, the game was added to the suggested reading list for the Nebula Awards by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association.

Wan and Atomic Monster’s Michael Clear and Rob Hackett will executive produce the TV series adaptation of the project along with Jeff Ludwig of The Menagerie Productions. The potential series is not yet attached to a specific network or streaming platform.

Headed up by Hackett, Atomic Monster’s TV division recently debuted horror thriller series “Teacup” on Peacock. Upcoming projects include the espionage thriller “Copenhagen,” starring and executive produced by Simu Liu for Peacock, and “Obsession,” based on Catherine Ryan Howard’s best-selling novel “56 Days,” for Amazon’s Prime Video.

Additionally, Wan’s Atomic Monster is currently developing TV projects “1313,” which is a horror reboot of “The Munsters,” a TV series based on “Robocop” for Amazon and a live-action adaptation of “Gargoyles” for Disney+.

I don't have a lot of physical PS5 games so a family member gifted me Pacific Drive Deluxe Edition for Xmas. Been looking forward to playing it since the trailers dropped. I've avoided reviews and previews because I want to go in as blind as possible. Come on Dec 25th!

This is my reminder to restart the game and finish it this time.

I'm willing to give this a shot depending on the budget.
