A young cat rescued as a pregnant stray has landed herself a glamorous spot in a charity calendar, showcasing cats who have been given a new lease of life through adoption.
Pebbles was taken in by Cats Protection Beverley & District after she was seemingly abandoned. Just 13 days later, she welcomed three healthy kittens into the world.
Although thought to be only about one or two years old, Pebbles proved to be an excellent mother, looking after her kittens until they were ready for new homes. Yet, despite her nurturing nature, it took some time before she caught someone's eye, and she spent 144 days under the care of a devoted volunteer fosterer.
Pebbles' luck turned around when Michelle and Anthony Noon from North Ferriby came across her online profile on the charity’s website and decided to adopt her. Michelle said: "We loved her backstory, which was very similar to our last cat. We felt she needed us, and she is just so cute. ".
Michelle also shared how well Pebbles has adjusted to her new home, saying, "She settled in well and has the run of the house. Pebbles is an anxious cat so we have learned to understand her needs. We recently got a new addition to the family, a kitten, and they have just started to get comfortable with each other, I think she enjoys his company."
Pebbles’ inspiring journey and that of other remarkable felines are celebrated in the Cats Protection 2025 calendar, now up for grabs online for UK delivery (£6 plus £4.95 p&p) at www.catsprotectionshop.co.uk, as well as across the charity’s chain of shops. Each calendar bought contributes to helping the charity support numerous cats and kittens in need of a fresh start.
Michelle said: "We are proud parents of a ‘Super Cat Model’! Now her story is being shared it will hopefully make others look to adopt cats and kittens from Cats Protection."
Carol Jopling, branch secretary at Cats Protection Beverley & District, said: "It’s lovely to hear how Pebbles has become an important and cherished member of her family, we love getting updates on our cats.
"It is wonderful that she has starring role in next year’s calendar as her story proves how vital cat adoption is to ensure that cats like Pebbles, who find themselves unwanted and homeless, can thrive if given another chance. We give them the very best care while they are with us, but it is no substitute for being part of a loving family."

"Rescued street cat" is an oxymoron.
