Your mom won't buy you the glowing shoes. It makes you so mad, but no matter what you do or say she won't budge. Everybody makes fun of you because you don't have the shoes. For weeks you are miserable- but it passes. The other kids all get bored of their shoes and start wearing different shoes or stop turning on the lights. The light-up shoes are no longer cool.
Then, it's your birthday, and your only gift is the light-up shoes.
