That's Zbigniew Religa a Polish surgeon. He was first surgeon who did successful heart transplant in Poland. Photo depicts aftermath of a scheduled heart transplant surgery (however it's not the historic first one).
I remember as a med student I assisted in a 22 hr maxillofacial surgery.
Main bulk of the procedure was done by the 20th hour so the consultant just left the residents and me to finish up. I wont ever forget me and the residents just collapsing on the floor as the patient was being wheeled out. We stayed there for like 30 mins just staring into nothingness until the resident got up to finish the paperwork.
Consultant took us all out to a fancy chinese restaurant after which was nice.
