It is so sad that Turkey was meant to be a republic with a Muslim majority and a European-focused lifestyle, but it has all gone downhill thanks to Erdogan, who has made religion a primary focus. Not only that, he is clearly a despicable dictator. Ataturk’s dream has long been lost.

This is what dictatorship looks like.

A little context from a Turk: He ran for presidency last year, and narrowly lost (48% against 52%).

Then he insisted on staying the leader of the opposition, but the party sacked him and renewed the leadership. Since then he has neither any power, nor any popularity whatsoever. In fact he is heavily blamed for the election loss, and rightly so.

Good news is, after the opposition leadership change, the opposition actually won the local elections which are held this year. It was heavy defeat for Erdoğan. He lost control of all the major cities, and his parry ranked 2nd.

So Turkish democracy is not dead yet guys. It's not that far gone like Russia. We will keep trying to change the course of the country, and in the next presidential elections we won't suffer a narrow defeat, but a major victory I hope.
