In honor of Diwali, President Joe Biden hosted a big party at the White House on October 28, 2024.
The party had over 600 well-known Indian Americans, which made it one of the biggest Diwali events ever held at the White House.
As President Biden lit the ritual lamp, the East Room of the White House was filled with the sounds of traditional music and the light of diyas.
“As president, it was an honor to host the largest Diwali parties ever at the White House.”
President Biden took a moment to praise Vice President Kamala Harris, who couldn’t make it to the event because she had to work on her campaign.
An Indian-American youth leader named Shrusti Amula introduced President Biden, giving the party a voice from the younger generation.
When Biden talked about the past of Diwali events at the White House, he talked about the first party he and his wife threw at the Vice President’s house in 2016. »
