Wish we could have given you some of this rain, Wyoming.

Reminder that climate change is not just simply things getting warmer, it is more and more erratic and extreme weather patterns. Unchecked fires from excessive dry periods and powerful hurricanes should underscore that.

Hope this fire gets under control soon.

The ranch I grew up on is currently on the frontline of this fire, it will almost certainly burn in part over the next few days. I honestly have mixed feelings, back when my family was still living on that ranch we knew a fire like this was merely a matter of time. There have been plenty of close calls in the past, there is so much incredibly dry fuel and it is such rough country that there is no stopping fire once it gets going in it. Ultimately it'll be incredibly healthy for the forest, but it'll completely change it for a lifetime. Fortunately so far the fire crews have been doing an incredible job keeping it away from any vital structures.
