A teacher at Twinfield Union School is facing a charge of aggravated disorderly conduct for allegedly using a permanent marker to draw around a student’s throat, according to Vermont State Police.
Kathleen Wheelock, 48, of Montpelier, allegedly drew on the student after that student used a permanent marker on a whiteboard, police said. The incident occurred Sept. 5, according to a state police press release, although authorities began investigating on Sept. 10.
“The student was not injured during the incident and left the classroom to report it to school administrators,” police wrote.
Wheelock could not immediately be reached for comment Friday afternoon.
In an email, Caledonia Central Supervisory Union Superintendent Matt Foster said Wheelock was no longer employed by the Twinfield district.
Twinfield Union is a preK-12 public school in Plainfield.
Wheelock is due in court on Oct. 3, according to state police.

Fired for drawing on a student. I’m sure the drawing was a sort of scarlet letter. There was a well-loved teacher at my high school, a former Army gunnery seargent, who would “slit” your throat with a red marker if he caught you sleeping in class. We all thought it was hilarious.
