OMAHA, Neb. (WBTV) - Nebraska police were responding to a shooting at Omaha high school on Tuesday, just days after four people were killed in a school shooting in Georgia.
At least one person was shot at Northwest High School in Omaha, Nebraska on Tuesday, Sept. 10, our affiliate WOWT reported Tuesday afternoon. The victim was believed to be a 15-year-old.
The 15-year-old was initially listed in critical condition. The alleged shooter, believed to be a student, was reportedly in custody.
Officials said a school resource officer reported the shooting to police at 12:23 p.m. The alleged shooter was taken into custody at 12:58 p.m.
The school went into lockdown at 12:30 p.m., according to the school district. That lockdown was lifted at 1:30 p.m., and students were released room by room, officials said.
According to officials, the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident between two students. Other circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately known.
Tuesday’s shooting comes less than a week after two students and two teachers -- Christian Angulo, Mason Schermerhorn, Cristina Irimie, and Richard Aspinwall -- were killed Apalachee High School in Georgia on Sept. 4. Several others were injured in that shooting.

Since last week, false school shooting reports have been reported all over the country, including here in North Carolina. It is common for school threats to rise in the wake of a school shooting in the U.S.
Multiple threats were posted online the night of Monday, Sept. 9 and into Tuesday morning, targeting schools around the Charlotte area. So far, an 11-year-old and 12-year-old have been arrested in connection with threats.
Multiple school-related threats were also made in Georgia following the Apalachee High School shooting. At least three people under the age of 18 years old were facing charges in Georgia, our sister station reports.
