Just went down a Wiki rabbithole. Caren Marsh Doll was in a plane crash in 1949. There was a cult called WKFL (Wisdom, Knowledge, Faith, Love) who assisted in rescue operations following the crash. This rescue operation led to the cult gaining national awareness. The cult leader was assassinated in 1958 by two disgruntled ex-members who claimed the leader was sleeping with their wives. Following the assassination the cult waned in influence and eventually their property was taken over and occupied by another cult, led by Charles Manson.
