People are absolutely blown away by the fact that I don't hate my ex wife. It's like they forget that you loved that person at one point and sometimes things end. I'd argue that it's healthy to let the past go and be civil with each other, especially if no physical or emotional abuse occurred.
My daughter’s mama and I split 15 years ago. I give her and her bf my turkey from work every year and he has come over to fix my car before and we have a solid successful kid. It doesn’t have to be nasty.
