Boris Johnson: We underestimated the courage of the Ukrainians
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has called for Kyiv to be allowed to hit Russian territory with Western weapons.
Johnson wrote about this in a column for the Daily Mail.
According to Johnson, Putin thought his armored columns would overrun Kyiv in a matter of days.
Instead, Ukrainian tanks entered Russia and captured more territory in about a week than the Russians did in a year.
“When Putin attacked Ukraine, he thought he would soon install a puppet regime in Kyiv,” he said.
“Now he finds that the Ukrainians have seized villages inside Russia itself and set up a military administration in the Russian town of Suja,” the article said.
Johnson called for giving the Ukrainians the tools they need at this point.
He explained that he meant allowing them to effectively use the weapons they have already been given.
According to him, the only way to stop Russians from planning bombs is to hit air bases.
And the only way to hit Russian bases is to use Western weapons, particularly the American ATACMS and British Storm Shadow.

Boris Johnson, though his inadequacies, has been at the forefront of shoring support for Ukraine. He swayed Trump's opinion on the matter, though slightly. He has pushed the EU and UK to keep up supporting the Ukrainians. Anyway, with their latest incursion and their holding of Russian territory, it has shown Putin’s threat of nuclear escalation is vacuous and can't be actualized. This should embolden the west to give the Ukrainians more leeway to win this war.
