First of all this image is not the gold medal the athlete got in London.

Secondly the medals were very tiny, 3cm, they look more like a coin. They were not meant to be worn with a ribbon. It had 25gr of gold but only 250 were made.

If they were 100% gold the 2024 gold medals would be worth roughly $45,000 each.
