I'm 27. I've had alopecia since I was 14. This is called Cicatricial Alopecia. It causes scarring of the scalp, pain, bleeding from the pores, and itching/skin discomfort. The top of my head is scared up except for a few spots. The sides of my head flare up often as well as old spots. My hair continues to grow in the bald patches and it sucks.
I've been to too many dermatology offices, more than I can count. They all say the same thing. To get on steroids, Olumiant, immune suppression drugs, change diet, etc. it's never worked. But I do my best to live with a smile on my face. I love life and all that's in it even if it's sucky at times. I'm here to have a voice. To give others who have the condition, severe or not, a chance to be seen. This condition is HARD. But we make it. We live on.
