Kinda makes sense... Each half of their brain has to do the whole brain's job, since they "turn it off" for sleep alternately, while still needing to maintain body functions.....

Dolphins would be super advanced species if they had hands to manipulate things. They have the intelligence and the social cooperation.
Octopus on the other hand has lots of intelligent hands and but no social cooperation.
