Harris is up nine points with that group (53%-44%) after being down 14 points with them when she launched her campaign just two weeks ago.

Overall, Harris has built a 51%-48% lead over Trump, according to the latest NPR/PBS News/Marist poll.

That’s a four-point improvement for Harris, who became the Democratic choice when Biden bowed out.

Harris leads by 13 points with women (55%-42%), but is losing men by nine points (54%-45%).

On the issues, the negative views of the economy are not sticking to Harris the way they did Biden.

Trump is still more trusted on the economy, but only by 3 points over Harris (51%-48%), compared to 9 points over Biden (54%-45%) in June.

Harris is also seeing improvement on how she would handle immigration, though Trump is still more trusted on that topic by 6 points (52%-46%). »

Japan just announced that it killed its first fin whale in years.

Fin whales, which are the second-largest animal on Earth — the blue whale is the largest — are considered by International Union for Conservation of Nature to be “vulnerable to extinction.”.

In May, 2024, fin whales were added to the list of of species that can be caught in Japan. »

Exactly 2½ years to the day after the team figure skating competition ended at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, U.S. figure skaters will get their gold medals and their Japanese counterparts their silvers at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.

All nine skaters on the U.S. team, their coaches and several members of each of their families flew to Paris on Tuesday courtesy of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee and the International Olympic Committee.

Medal ceremony outfits have been made for the Americans by the USOPC, which the skaters will wear at the Paris Olympics’ Champions Park for the ceremony beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday. »

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX) - A Texas middle school is banning students from wearing all-black clothing because school officials say it’s associated with mental health issues.

Students at Charles Middle School in El Paso, Texas, headed back to school Monday, days after a letter from Principal Nick DeSantis outlined the school’s new dress code policy.
