Draft dodging is objectively smart behavior. I have no problem with a politician being a draft dodger if they're not a hypocrite about it, which means they should be staunchly anti-war and anti-draft.
He purchased and operated a hotel/brothel in Monte Carlo WA and sold around 1900 just as the gold rush was coming into harbour in Seattle. The following winter destroyed the town with avalanche.
In Bennett BC he owned and operated another hotel/brothel and sold this one as well. Shortly after that his partner (and now full owner of the hotel) was arrested for public drunkenness and the hotel repossessed.
Edit: The Trump business tactic began with Frederick: buy an existing location, rebrand operate and sell it. Rinse repeat.

He also opened a hotel during the gold rush in alaska/canada. From that money he bought property in NY and startet the trump business
