Bismarck was right, ultimately; the Balkans were inevitably gonna spark a war eventually, it was just a matter of opportunity. Tragic for many reasons, not least of which is that the Archduke was supposedly reform minded in favor of granting more rights. We’ll never know what would’ve been.
