Sony has opened its Concord Beta Early Access weekend to all PlayStation Plus members.

Previously, only those who pre-ordered the live service shooter were due to get access to this weekend’s playtest. However, Sony said on Thursday it’s now opening the beta to all members.

The Concord Beta Early Access weekend on PS5 and PC will begin tomorrow, Friday, July 12, at 10am PDT / 6pm BST. PS5 users can pre-download the Concord Beta starting today, Thursday, July 11 at 10 am PDT / 6pm BST.

An Open Beta will begin next week, from Thursday, July 18, through Sunday, July 21, available to everyone.

The beta will have three modes – Clash Point, Trophy Hunt and Cargo Run – available to play, as well as all 16 launch characters unlocked and available to customize.

Those who participate in the beta will receive various in-game rewards for the full game; a Frog Weapon Charm, a Star Flare Icon and Business Card.

The debut title from PlayStation’s Firewalk Studios will be released for PS5 and PC on August 23. Concord is a 5v5 team-based shooter, where players compete as ‘freegunners’ and have to take on opposing teams.

VGC recently had the chance to play three hours of Concord. In our preview, we praised the game’s gunplay, and unique delivery method for story in a live service game.

Firewalk has also confirmed the game’s plans for monetisation. In an exclusive video interview with VGC, Firewalk addressed the backlash to the game’s reveal trailer during PlayStation’s recent State of Play.

“Yeah, that trailer,” reflected Kim Kreines, Concord’s director of IP. “That moment is such a tiny slice of everything that we’ve been working on for years and years. We’re excited for the game and for the IP, and for the game to be in people’s hands.”

If they really want this to do well then this is a good strategy. I’m not their target market for this but it is a good play to open it up and give everyone interested a chance to see what it’s about.

Is anyone excited to play this or did the trailer excite you? Because I know nobody.
