I actually took this pic at my apartment several years ago (which, also occurred during a spate of record-setting heat!).

The landlord was not the best at landlording.

This was in the suburbs of Seattle, so, understandable that the apartment wouldn't care the most about pool maintenance, since, not really usable for most of the year.

Obvi posted by a passive-aggressive tenant. I remember showing up to the pool to beat the heat, wearing my swimsuit and thinking it was odd nobody was in the water. When I saw this sign, I burst out laughing and took the picture in one fell swoop.

As for the landlord being bad at landlording, here's another story from that experience. It was in a complex that had a bunch of lofted apartments, so at the front of the apt, there were windows about 20ish feet off the ground.

Very first day we were there, I was closing the blinds and something snapped, and they stopped being able to close.

"No worries," I said, "I'll just contact the landlord." Thinking he'd probably want to impress the new tenants with his focus on getting stuff done.

Contact him, and he does come up pretty quickly.

I show him the broken blinds.

After looking up at them, he goes "I don't know if I can fix those. I'd need like a ladder or something."

Keep in mind, this was a complex with MULTIPLE lofted apartments... and, even if not, a ladder seems like a good thing for anyone with a property to have.

I ended up agreeing with him that he would need a ladder (or something). And he said he'd go see what he had.

That was the last time he was ever in our apartment.
