That thermometer isn't the official National Weather Service measurement. Its accurate enough, but you need to consider the radiated heat from the visitor center building and asphalt parking lot. I took my own weather thermometer and placed it in the trees near here, and it matched this thermometer. I don't know where in the area the real thermometer is kept, but it is kinda a secret, vandalism and all of that.
Its hot, and dangerous, you don't realize you are sweating because it evaporates instantly. You need to force yourself to drink water. Don't be an ass and stand out there watching the thermometer inch up. Go inside or to your air conditioned car. Someone fainted when I was there-and they weren't that old.
