Rumors suggest AMD, Intel and NVIDIA next-gen GPUs launches are to be expected in 2025

Graphics card enthusiasts should prepare for a wait, as post-Computex rumors indicate that all next-gen GPU architectures may be released next year.

Tweakers have shared insights from speaking with company representatives during their Computex visits. It appears that all of them agreed there is no Radeon RX 8000 or Intel Arc B-series launching this year. While the media originally did not share news on GeForce GPUs, they have now posted a story claiming that NVIDIA GPUs are also not expected to launch this year either:

Various sources closely connected to Nvidia reported to Tweakers during the Computex trade show that the new generation of graphics cards is planned for release only in early 2025. The announcement might still happen in late 2024, but this is not certain yet. In any case, no significant volumes will be available for sale before the new calendar year. — Tomas Hochstenbach, Tweakers

Should that be the case, then all next-gen GPU series are now expected either in late 2024 or early 2025:

During the Computex press and analyst conference, NVIDIA’s CEO did not confirm when the RTX 50 series will be released. However, he did mention the series and stated that it would be discussed later. Unfortunately, he did not specify whether this would happen this year.

Jensen: „The RTX 50 Series is… something I will talk to you about later“ and „it’s very exciting“. So no news for GeForce. — High Yield (@highyieldYT) June 4, 2024

Tweakers aren’t the only media outlet reporting different dates for the RTX 50 series release. According to Hassan Mujtaba from Wccftech, board partners expect the new series either in Q4 of this year or early 2025. AGF, who has been familiar with NVIDIA’s plans in the past, states that nothing has changed, and the RTX 50 series is still to be expected in 2024.

The confusion likely arises from either from the late 2024 plans for the RTX 50 series or the fact that board partners are using the announcement and release dates interchangeably, which are not the same thing. NVIDIA GPUs typically arrive several weeks after being announced, so the introduction may still happen this year, it is said.

Nothing have changed this week. Still Q4 2024.

Really no idea how an official tiers one AIB can say 2025… — AGF (@XpeaGPU) June 6, 2024

It’s important to clarify that this isn’t a confirmation or news of a delay, as only one of these companies has officially announced their plans for the new discrete GPU series. AMD put out a slide suggesting RDNA4 would arrive by 2024, but according to the latest reports, this might no longer be the case.

Of course, all of this is based on rumors. If anything can change at this point, it would be the engineering sample specs and release dates. Furthermore, NVIDIA has no reason to launch its RTX 50 series anytime soon, considering neither AMD nor Intel have plans to launch enthusiast-class GPUs in the near future. Current rumors suggest that NVIDIA’s initial push with gaming Blackwell would be with GB202/GB203 flagship GPUs for the RTX 5090/5080 models.

I was looking forward for Battlemage this year... Oh well, at least when they'll drop, it will be among others so there will be a bigger choice.

Since they control the market, Nvidia has no reason to rush. RDNA4 doesn't compete at the high end, so they could release nothing and still be #1 with the 4090.

I expect Nvidia to delay GPU launches unless AMD changes drastically.

Watch for rumors next week indicating a return this year.
