Amid high temperatures at Donald Trump's campaign rally in Las Vegas on Sunday, the former president made a quip about the heat affecting his attendees by stating that he needed their votes, adding, "I don't care about you."
Trump and President Joe Biden became the presumptive 2024 Republican and Democratic presidential nominees respectively in March as both continue to campaign ahead of November's election. On Sunday, the former president took to the stage at his Sunset Park outdoor rally to speak to his supporters.
However, temperatures began to rise with a forecast of over 100 degrees during the event. At his rally, Trump spoke about the heat affecting his attendees as he made a joke about needing their votes.
"By the way, isn't the breeze nice. Do you feel the breeze? I don't want anybody going on me. We need every voter. I don't care about you. I just want your vote. I don't care." His supporters laughed as he then said, "See now, the press will take that, and they'll say, 'He said a horrible thing.'"
Newsweek has reached out to Trump's campaign via email for comment.

In response to Trump's comments, some took to X, formerly Twitter, to criticize him on Sunday.
Democrat and X user Harry Sisson wrote ,"WOW! Trump just went MASK OFF and said 'We need every voter. I don't care about you. I just want your vote. I don't care.' You hear that, America? Trump doesn't care about you at all. He just wants you to vote for him. Disgraceful."
Democratic Pennsylvania state Representative Malcolm Kenyatta simply wrote: "He's finally telling the truth."
Reiterating Kenyatta's remarks, progressive political commentator Luke Beasley posted to X, "He finally said the truth."
However, Trump also commented that if any attendee feels unwell to let him know, adding that "we have people" to "pick you up right away."
"It's 110, but it doesn't feel it to me, right. So, we'll stay out here for a little while. If anybody gets tired, you'll let me know. And if anybody goes down, if you start going down, we have people they'll pick you up right away. They'll throw water," the former president said Sunday.
"You know they were so worried. Everybody was so worried yesterday about you," Trump added, pointing to the crowd. "And they never mentioned me. I'm up here sweating like a dog."

Trump's comments come after a medical event was reported hours before the rally began as a Secret Service agent ran toward the security line yelling, "Medic," the Reno Gazette Journal, which covered the event live, reported.
The incident happened around 8:45 a.m. PST when it was 86 degrees out before it was expected to get hotter as the event went on.
Meanwhile, Trump's campaign took several precautions to combat the desert heat: thousands of bottles of water for attendees, tents and misting fans around the park and at least one tent with air conditioning. The campaign also said it would allow attendees to carry small umbrellas. There were also medical staff on park grounds.
This is not the first time incidents involving heat exhaustion have occurred during a Trump rally.
On Thursday, 11 people with heat exhaustion were hospitalized after waiting in line for an indoor Trump rally in Phoenix, with temperatures reaching 110 degrees. According to local ABC affiliate KNXV-TV, several people fainted from the heat.

He can say it to their faces and they still don't care. They're just meat with money and votes to him.
