Hillary Clinton Releases New Merch After Trump Verdict: 'She Was Right'

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton unveiled new merchandise after a New York City jury on Thursday found former President Donald Trump guilty of concealing a hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 campaign.

The jury found Trump guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business documents to cover up the payment. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg alleged the payment was made to prevent Daniels from speaking publicly about her claims of having an affair with the former president.

Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied the affair. After the verdict, Trump called the trial a "disgrace" and "rigged," and he has indicated he plans to appeal.

Clinton, the Democrat who ran against Trump in 2016, announced new merchandise after the verdict. She posted a photograph to her Instagram account of a mug with a cartoon image of herself drinking a cup of tea with the text: "Turns out she was right about everything."

"We recently had some new merch made based on a phrase I hear a lot. The design happened to be finalized today. With your purchase, you'll support Onward Together groups defending democracy... and get a pretty great mug to sip tea from," she wrote in a post to Instagram.

During the Vital Voices Festival and Global Leadership Awards on Thursday evening, Clinton quipped: "Anything going on today?" She has not issued a formal statement about the verdict.

Newsweek reached out to Clinton's offices and Trump's campaign for comment via email.

The verdict came after weeks of testimony in the case, including from Daniels and Trump's former lawyer and "fixer" Michael Cohen. His sentencing hearing has been scheduled for July 11, and legal analysts have said it is unlikely Trump will face prison time.

How Other Democrats Responded to Verdict

The verdict drew mixed response, with Trump's supporters backing his claims that the trial was rigged. Trump has accused Judge Juan Merchan of being biased against him and has said he could not get a fair trial in deeply Democratic Manhattan.

Some Democrats celebrated the verdict, or ridiculed Trump. The campaign of President Joe Biden, who is expected to face off against Trump in the November election, responded in a statement posted to X, formerly Twitter.

"In New York today, we saw that no one is above the law," the statement reads. "Donald Trump has always mistakenly believed he would never face consequences for breaking the law for his own personal gain. But today's verdict does not change the fact that the American people face a simple reality. There is still only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: at the ballot box."

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wrote in a statement to X: "This moment is a somber one for America. Trial by a jury of peers is a fundamental principle of democracy, which must be respected."

I see no problem with Hillary trolling him (... and the fools that were taken in by him) as much as she cares to. Good luck to her. Troll away.

She was right the whole time.

I mean, she kinda was right, about everything.

Especially the "deplorables" statement, although it might sound mean and was unwise at the time, a large portion of the voter base must either be fucking insane, or just straight up vicious for supporting this hateful movement.
