CD Projekt RED has officially confirmed in its latest financial report that The Witcher 4, also known as Project Polaris, will enter the production phase in the second half of 2024.
Project Polaris will continue ramping up its production throughout 2024. This game marks the start of a new trilogy set in the Witcher universe.
Over 400 developers are currently dedicated to Project Polaris, making it the largest project in terms of team size at CD Projekt RED.
The game will utilize Unreal Engine 5, a shift from the REDengine used in previous Witcher titles. This move aims to leverage the advanced capabilities of Unreal Engine 5 for creating more dynamic and immersive open-world environments.
CD Projekt RED also confirmed the end of development on Cyberpunk 2077. No future DLCs are planned. Majority of the company’s workforce has moved on to The Witcher 4 and the multiplayer Witcher spinoff, Project Sirius.
Approximately 39 developers are currently assigned to Project Sirius. Significantly smaller in scale compared to Project Polaris.
