She died on April 29, 2017, at 22 yo, and my brother on December 7, 2018, at 23 yo. The picture is around February 2017 in Colombia. They met in the hospital in a group for adolescents with cancer in Bogotá. They were in remission for several years before their cancer recurred around the same time.
I was very close to them, and I still cannot process what happened, even though it’s been six years.
Thank you all for the supportive comments. I just wanted to share their story and these beautiful photos with more people. It's been six years, and I still don't talk about it much. It still feels unreal and foggy. Many messages make me realize how special these photos are. Despite having such a difficult and short life, they both managed to find love and give each other smiles. I'm not very religious, but I'm sure they are together somewhere in the universe.
