Ukrainian forces have partially pushed Russian occupiers out of Vovchansk, in the Kharkiv region. Defensive operations by the Ukrainian Armed Forces are ongoing on the outskirts of the city, according to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"The defense forces repelled the offensive actions of Russian occupiers in the area of Vovchansk, partially displacing enemy forces from the settlement. Defensive actions are ongoing on the northern and northwestern outskirts," the statement said.
The General Staff added that information regarding enemy losses is currently being clarified.
Last week, Russian forces launched an offensive in the Kharkiv region, attempting to break through the defenses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The aggressors managed to occupy several settlements along the front line. They also sought to capture Vovchansk.
According to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Oleksandr Lytvynenko, more than 30,000 Russian troops have been involved in the offensive in the Kharkiv region.
Today, May 15, information appeared online that Russian forces entered Vovchansk.
However, the General Staff reported that as of 11:30 a.m., the enemy is not engaging in active operations but is attempting to consolidate and regroup.
Later, the Ministry of Defense confirmed that Russian infantry groups had entered Vovchansk. They are trying to consolidate in the northern part of the city, and fighting is ongoing.

There was a video posted yesterday of a ground-launched Brimstone battery popping off somewhere in Kharkiv oblast. These are the missiles that fire off in the general direction of enemy armor and find their own target. Seems like Ukraine repositioned assets to stop the advance. Russian losses must insane.

I don’t know what to believe anymore. There’s another article saying Ukraine is retreating.

A lot of the reporting from the ground in the last 24 hours sounds like Russian progress stopped due to a combination of high amounts of equipment loss and Ukraine changing tactics.
I don’t know if they’ll be able to push them back out of that area in Kharkiv but I don’t think any major advancements are coming.
