I’ve seen this one a few times purporting to be from the Outer Banks during the 8 April 2024 eclipse and I don’t think it’s real.

That eclipse happened in the middle of the day and the sun was high in the sky, not nearly at the horizon. Also, the only coastlines in the path of totality were in Atlantic Canada, not NC.

There are also some weird inconsistencies with the people at the bottom that make me suspect that it is at least in part AI generated.

Beautiful.... but fake.

I am 99.9% certain the beach that it is taken at is the Wedge in Newport Beach. In particular, that break is known as "Cylinders".

Besides Newport not being able to view the full eclipse, that photo is taken facing West, at sunset.

I wish it had been real. And great photoshop work, but it's not the real deal.
