Seven California condors were released into the wild in the U.S. state after the endangered animals were hatched and raised at Oregon Zoo.

The wild releases were “soft releases,” meaning the birds exit their pens at their own time.

Because of the recovery programs like the Oregon Zoo’s, the world’s California condor population now totals around 500 birds, most of which are flying free. »

Woman tossing trash falls into dumpster, survives getting compacted in garbage truck

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — A woman fell into a dumpster while throwing out her garbage and was later rescued from a trash truck that had compacted the contents while she was inside, fire department officials in New Hampshire said.

Luckily, neighbors heard her screams and the trash compartment was equipped with a camera.

By then, the driver “had reportedly compacted the garbage up to four times,” the Manchester Fire Department said in a news release. »

European Union leaders reached on Thursday morning a deal to establish a €50-billion plan for Ukraine after Viktor Orbán lifted his veto.
