The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on Thursday struck a Russian command post near the occupied city of Sevastopol in the afternoon and then made a separate strike on a military unit in Crimea.

Details of the strike were still emerging at press time.

The AFU said it hit a Russian command post at about 3 p.m. local time.

Meanwhile, Russian sources said their air defenses knocked out ten guided missiles over occupied Sevastopol during the afternoon, with fragments of artillery shells crashing down around the area, AFP reported.

Explosions and air raid sirens were heard in Crimea again on Thursday evening.

Illinois and Massachusetts voters seek to take Trump off 2024 ballot

Groups of voters from Illinois and Massachusetts on Thursday filed motions to remove Donald Trump from the 2024 ballot, adding to the list of states where the former president faces a challenge to his candidacy under the 14th Amendment’s so-called insurrectionist ban.

Last week, Maine’s secretary of state removed Trump from that state’s 2024 primary ballot, and the former president’s team on Tuesday appealed that decision in state court.

Judges in Michigan and Minnesota, however, rejected bids to block Trump from appearing on the primary ballot in those states. »

Joe Biden boots Uganda from trade deal over horrific “Kill the Gays” law

In a December 29 proclamation, President Joe Biden wrote that he had determined that Uganda, along with the Central African Republic, Gabon, and Niger, does not meet the requirements to continue benefiting from the trade deal.

“Accordingly, I have decided to terminate the designations of the Central African Republic, Gabon, Niger, and Uganda as beneficiary sub-Saharan African countries for purposes of section 506A of the Trade Act, effective January 1, 2024,” Biden wrote.
