Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Republican, said she was "swatted" on Christmas Day.

Swatted is a term used to describe being victim to a false report of a crime at your address, which prompts police to show up at your home.

"I was just swatted," Greene wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday morning. "This is like the 8th time. On Christmas with my family here."

"My local police are the GREATEST and shouldn't have to deal with this. I appreciate them so much and my family and I are in joyous spirits celebrating the birth of our savior Jesus Christ!" Greene wrote.

Newsweek reached out to Greene via email and the Rome City Police Department via phone for comment.

People on social media called for accountability for the swatters.

"The cops know who's doing it and still allow it! Going to continue until someone is held accountable," X user Julie Jones wrote.

X user Bobbi Linn Mac wrote, "One day someone will be caught swatting and I pray that person or persons will be the example set for all that think swatting is a good idea."

"Life in jail for the swatters. Time to find them," X user @JangledK wrote.

In August 2022, Greene was targeted multiple times in one week by swatters.

Greene recounted one of the swatting incidents during an interview with the Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN) at the time.

"When I opened the door and greeted the officers and I said what's, what's going on? It was their demeanor and just their, like, body language. They were tactical. They had guns drawn. They were prepared for something serious," Greene said.

Police were dispatched to Greene's home at around 1 a.m. on August 24, 2022, after receiving a false report that a male had been shot five times in a bathtub, with a female inside the home, possibly with children.

During the RSBN interview, Greene said she believes "it was truly a God thing" that she had a feeling not to carry her gun to the front door.

"Because had I have done that we would have been in a whole different scenario because I probably would have been the target and that is the whole purpose of swatting someone," she said.

She added that the swatter "wanted me to be murdered. Death by cop. That's what swatting is and they were doing this in hopes that the police would kill me."

Someone did come forward to police and claimed responsibility for the incident. They said they targeted Greene because they were upset about her opposition to transgender youth rights.
