There’s an urban legend that the concrete for the dam was poured so quickly that if anyone ever fell in they wouldn’t be able to pull them out. This legend was memorialized in the song “Highwayman”, written by Jimmy Webb.
However, I watched a documentary that discussed the construction of the Dam several years ago which featured some of the construction workers. They said that if that happened they would have never left anyone in the concrete because the bodies would have left voids in the dam’s concrete blocks.
