The Satanist Temple has turned a classic "your momma" joke into a fully functional women's health clinic by naming it after the mother of a current Supreme Court Justice.

The Satanic Temple announced the launch of New Mexico's Samuel Alito's Mom's Satanic Abortion Clinic in February 2023.

"In 1950, Samuel Alito’s mother did not have options, and look what happened,” said Malcolm Jarry, the cofounder of TST, in announcing the clinic.

“Prior to 1973, doctors who performed abortions could lose their licenses and go to jail. The clinic’s name serves to remind people just how important it is to have the right to control one’s body and the potential ramifications of losing that right.”

While comedian John Oliver applauded it as "the single best mom joke of all time" in a recent episode of his show, and TST's Health 'Supreme Courtship' arm is selling condoms with the faces of the Supreme Court Justices on them, the group has made it clear this isn't a troll.

The center is an accredited "religious medical services arm" that will provide "telehealth screenings and appointments and prescribe abortion medication for its patients," it explained.

TST says services include free online medical screenings and virtual appointments, discreet medicine delivery with a $90 pharmacy fee, a dedicated 24/7 patient hotline, and follow-up check-ups.

It's clear why TST chose to subject the late Rose Fradusco Alito's, who died in February 2013, likeness to the facility — it was her son's majority opinion that was leaked and later confirmed the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade as a ruling in Dobbs, State Health Officer of The Mississippi Department of Health, Et. Al, v. Jackson Women's Health Organization.

"Roe was egregiously wrong from the start," Alito wrote. "Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences," Alito, Jr. wrote. "And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division."

The landmark ruling has continued to have ripple effects across the country, with many states changing abortion laws, making it illegal.

The organization says it hopes to open additional clinics in other states in the future.

“TST is proud to expand reproductive options for our members. This is just the beginning,” said Erin Helian, Executive Director of Campaigns. “We will remain steadfast as we continue the fight to uphold reproductive justice in the United States.”
