Probably means that they don’t have any records of when it was built exactly, but they have a record from 1345 mentioning the existence of the house.

So apparently this house is located in Basel (Switzerland) at the modern address Rheingasse 64. It was first mentioned in a local monastery's tax book from 1345, hence the inscription.

There’s a hotel in San Gimigniano Italy that is built into the city wall. We stayed there once and were lucky enough to score a room in the wall that looked out over the valley.

Later in the week as we were exploring the surrounding countryside we saw a painting in a church that featured the wall and we could pick out our actual room window. The painting was from about 1350.
