I had this exact same experience flying in to New York about 15 years ago and it was magical (I feel like I could have taken this photo). The plane even had to do some sort of a bank and return manoeuvre (I was sitting on the tilting down side of plane) which took us around the tip of Manhattan - so I kinda got to experience it twice and got even closer than this shot. Still remember it like it was yesterday.

I never realized the percentage of land central park takes up. Pretty amazing that's still not developed.
