Some notes about Mexican police; the police force has a very outsized population of single mothers because it is one of the few careers available to them while at the same time many gang members kill cops as initiation rituals. The public and gang members alike ridicule these officers for being sleepy or lazy, which frequently gets them killed, because they spend almost all of their off hours raising their children. Also, many police in Mexico receive more training than the typical police officer in the USA.
